Basically a renowned businessman Mr. M R A Taha was born of a Muslim family in 1935 in the District of Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. Mr. M R A Taha was educated in Bachelor of Arts from Calcutta University and then migrated to the then East Pakistan in 1959. He worked as a Branch Manager of Habib Bank Ltd for 10 years from 1960-1970. The striking features of his profession can be singled out under the following headings:

Mr. M R A Taha, a born business personality of Bangladesh founded Remex, a leading Indenting house for all kind of Chemicals and Industrial products since 1983. As a Chairman of the company he has developed and expanded the company in its pinnacle day by day. Since its inception Remex Corporation Ltd diversified its scope of activities to become one of country’s leading Indenting house.

Chairman of a group of companies named Remex Corporation Ltd, Best Wool Sweaters Ltd, J.B.Garments Limited, Interlink Apparels Ltd, and Interlink Accessories Ltd. Mr. Taha has a checquered career.

He is involved in a large number of scholarship project covering Dinajpur, Brahmmabaria, Savar, Mirpur and Dhaka proper. The scholarship includes fifty (50) persons both man, woman and children.

 

Contribution to Nature and Environment:

Mr. M.R.A. Taha is the President of Bangladesh Nature Conservation Society (BNCS) an active environmental organization in Bangladesh working for conservation of forest, wetlands, wildlife, and promoting eco-friendly activities. This society is engaged in awareness campaign among children, and public at large; various environmental studies, research, training, and other activities. BNCS in his leadership campaigned & gave expert services to the poultry entrepreneurs in Gazipur District, to establish bio gas plants from poultry wastes. This campaign did transform a vast area of the district from being stinky & unhealthy to livable & civilized.

Bangladesh Nature Conservation Society ( BNCS ) under the leadership of Mr. Taha is also working for pollution control in Dhaka City, particularly in Tongi Area, suggesting centrally placed Effluent Treatment Plants for the industrial wastes. Mr. Taha led a campaign in Narayangonj City for clearing riverways from unauthorized occupation. He also led a campaign in Narshingdi & Munshiganj Districts for awareness in children for planting indigenous trees bearing fruits. He is the founder member of Sabuj Boloy established in 2004, an organization working for nature & tree plantation in Dinajpur, Bangladesh, along the international border.

 

Social Work:

A man of generosity, Mr. Taha is a social activist and a philanthropist as well. He is supporter of Center for Rehabilitation of Paralyzed (CRP) at Savar. He is involved with a number of schools for Autistic children as well as orphan and homeless children.

 

 

SOCIAL WORK AT BRAHMMANBARIA :

A Touchy story in the words of Mr. M R A Taha :

Through one of my friend I came to know that one family consisting of 4 members who are suffering from scarcity of money. In fact, they had no income. I was told two daughters are born blind and father became blind for malnutrion. Only mother can see. So she is having tough time with 3 blind persons in the family. One daughter will be about 22 years old and the other one is 19 years old. Father is about 68 years old and mother is about 59 years old. I went to see them and after seeing them I promised them to extend financial assistance.

From last 8 years I am sending money which is sufficient for their decent living. Every month I send money to their Bank A/C. Two girls can not see the light of the world as they are blind. But they can sing Japanese, English, Hindi and Bengali songs. Even they can compose the music. On top of them they can also play all types of instrumental music. Mother and father can also play all types of instrumental music. Sometime they get programmed from BTV only for which get very small amount. Both the girls call me “ Father”.

 

SOCIAL WORK AT DINAJPUR

Supporting a family of 3 members, mother, daughter and son for last 8 years by paying their house rent, food, clothing School, education and medical expenses. The head of the family Late Mr. Mohammad Ali who was a good Boxer. He became all Pakistan Champion for two times. After his death his family started their livelihood with begging. This news was published in the daily news paper Prothum Alo asking to help this family. I responded immediately and since then I am taking care of that family. Both the children are having good education and the girl is studying in H.S.C and the boy is studying in class VIII (8). This family is from Dinajpur where I go to see them. I bought them mobile phone, TV and they keep close touch with me. They are very happy as I send them money every month on a regular basis. Before this, the family was staying at sweeper’s colony in bamboo built house. Now they are staying at good apartment building.

 

SHISHU PARIBAR – TEJGAON DHAKA

This is an orphanage where about 400 hundred girls are staying and studying in different school and colleges situated in and around Tejgaon, Dhaka. This organization is being supported by Social welfare DLPH government of Bangladesh. The amount govt pay to Shishu Paribar is not enough to cover the total cost. I have sponsored one girl who is studying in class VI (6). I am supporting her financially from Class VI (6) to graduation level and also I am responsible to meet her marriage expenses and to provide both of them some jobs for their income so that they can live comfortably.

 

SOCIAL WORK AT DHAKA

 One girl named Asha called me over telephone and requested me to meet her urgently as she needs help. She told me she got my telephone number from the book which I have written and published by me. I told her where you want me to meet. She said she will meet me in Lalmatia/Mohammadpur Aarong shop and she will be waiting at the restaurant. Accordingly I went there and found her at the restaurant. First, she called me Father. Then she said that two weeks back here father married another woman leaving her mother. Her mother could not stay in the same house and she decided to marry another man who can give shelter and take care of herself and her daughter Asha. Accordingly marriage was performed. Asha’s new father did not allow her to stay in the same house. Now she is staying at her friend’s house for last 3 days.

She proposed to me if I pay her hostel expenses as well as educational expenses and other expenses then she can prolong her study. I immediately took her to the superintendent of Eden College Hostel at Azimpur Dhaka. I talked to the superintendent to allow her to stay in hostel. She agreed to my proposal and admitted her. Since then I am paying her last 5 years all the expenses hostel, educational fees, medical expenses and pocket money.

Every month I send money to her personal account at Agrani Bank Azimpur Branch. This year she will appear for her Master’s degree examination. She calls me “Papa”.

 

 

SOCIAL WORK
CENTER FOR REHABILITAION OF PARALYSED (CRP)
SAVAR, DHAKA.

This is a private organization started in the year 1972 by one British woman in a small scale. Now it has expanded into a big one. Now the organization is treating about 200 hundred paralyzed patients with Physiotherapy and other medicines. Moreover there are about 100 mentally retarded and physically disabled children who are staying there and getting their schooling and accommodation facility as well as medical treatment. CRP has 3 Branches at Savar, Manikganj and Mirpur. They have also their own building 15 storied where they have opened Hospital for physiotheraphy and other therapy. Now this organization is running on donations from Bangladesh and foreign countries. I am involved there as member of Supporter and helping them financial assistance. I have introduced to them few friends who are actively working with CRP. The Founder of CRP is Ms. Valerie Taylor. CRP has been producing in their Savar unit which is main one wooden / plastic / metal furniture. Wooden chair for elderly as well as disabled persons. Moreover they are producing handicrafts, greeting cards, poster etc.

 

STREET CHILDREN PARTNERS -BGD

MAER ACHOLE, DHAKA.

 This organization is for the street children who do not have any shelter or parent. They stay inside the school premises and study there.

Few years back this shelter was founded by Trade Commissioner of French Embassy in India and Thailand. His name is Christian Raymond. He left his job and started working for the homeless street Children. About 200 Children are there and they are getting clothing, Food, books and other necessary things as well as shelter. I am involved there since last two years and helping the school with financial and other support.

Now the founder of this school has bought a 5 storied building at Mirpur, Dhaka with a cost of 80 lacs taka. This money has been collected from several donors in and outside Bangladesh including me. Miss Kakoli, a Bangladeshi girl is in charge of this institution. She is putting lot of efforts and times to make the project a successful one.
